Misty Meadow was one of the first flocks nationally that utilized a new vaginal artificial insemination technique developed in Iceland. For the past three years we have been introducing the newest genetics from Iceland to the Midwest. We are very excited about our lambs from the latest and greatest rams from the Southram station in Iceland. We have AI bloodlines from Horvi, Rektor, Abel, Arfi, and Hylur, and our 2006 lambs introduce Tyr and Thokki.

While the AI genetics have had a visible impact on meatiness and conformation we have remained vigilant to protect the farm-bred improvements to fleece quality resulting from 12 years of selective breeding. The following AI first generation lambs we are being offered for sale. These lambs can only be sold to breeders enrolled in the National Scrapie Eradication program. Lambs are listed by sire.


THOKKI is one of the few polled AI rams at Southagri in Selfoss, Iceland that carries color. He also is one of the few with a wool score of 9.0.

HORVISON is a son of Horvi 99856, a polled AI sire from Southagri. Hans throws well-conformed lambs and lots of beautiful fleece. He carries gray pattern and spotting as a recessives

ARFISON is a polled black mouflon son of Arfi, an exceptional AI sire in Iceland and Una (TKM-53L), a wonderfully conformed ewe with outstanding milk producing ability. Arfison carries moorit, has no trace of horns and has the blocky build of his father. Its been really rewarding to see Arfison’s influence among our polled lambs.
